Tesco Bank ATM donations reach over £37,000 for the NSPCC
8 October 2020
Tesco Bank is delighted to announce over £37,000 has been donated to the NSPCC by shoppers using its network of ATMs at Tesco stores. The announcement comes as Tesco Bank celebrates the five-year anniversary of its partnership with the charity.
Tesco Bank has enabled customers using ATMs located at Tesco stores across the country to donate to the NSPCC while conducting everyday transactions such as cash withdrawal and account enquiries. [Tesco Bank operates 4,000 ATMs across the UK, the third largest network in the country].
These donations have helped the NSPCC’s Childline service answer over 9,300 contacts, including one to one chats, phone calls and emails from children in need of help and support.
Despite a reduction in ATM usage as a result of Covid-19, donations to the NSPCC via Tesco Bank’s ATMs have increased by 45% during these challenging times when compared to the same period last year. That increase in donations means that Tesco Bank customers are helping the NSPCC support an average of 40 more contacts a month in 2020.
Mark Loch, Group Payments and Money Services Director, said: "Tesco has some of the busiest ATMs in the UK, and I am delighted our facilities are allowing customers a convenient and safe way to donate to important charities, such as the NSPCC, so they can provide vital support to those in need.
“Tesco Bank has a proud record of fundraising for good causes and for supporting the communities in which we operate. I’m pleased Tesco shoppers are donating as much as ever, particularly during these unprecedented times.”
Katie Bruce, Corporate Partnerships Manager for NSPCC Scotland, said: “We are hugely grateful for the ongoing support of Tesco Bank and its customers, which is helping us be there for children and young people, particularly over the past few months.
“It has been an incredibly tough period for young people across the country, with many of their usual support networks disappearing but, thanks to donations like this, Childline has been able to answer contacts from thousands of children when they needed us most.”
Tesco Bank has offered customers the opportunity to make charitable donations through its ATM network since 2012 and has since raised over £500,000 for good causes.
Children and young people can contact Childline with any worries by calling 0800 1111 or visiting the website www.childline.org.uk. Adults concerned about a child can contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000 or via help@nspcc.org.uk.
Donating through Tesco Bank ATMs
As well as supporting three local charities, Tesco Bank is proud to utilise its ATM network to support a number of national causes including the NSPCC, The British Heart Foundation and the Disasters Emergency Committee.
Tesco Bank has offered customers the opportunity to make charitable donations of up to £300 through its network since 2012 and has since raised over £500,000 for good causes.
Tesco Bank has the third largest ATM network in the UK. Tesco Bank ATMs are some of the busiest in the UK (twice as busy as the UK average) and are located in most Tesco and One Stop stores of all sizes throughout the UK.

About the NSPCC
The NSPCC is the leading children’s charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. Using voluntary donations, which make up around 90 per cent of our funding, we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening. So when a child needs a helping hand, we’ll be there. When parents are finding it tough, we’ll help. When laws need to change, or governments need to do more, we won’t give up until things improve.
Our Childline service provides a safe, confidential place for children with no one else to turn to, whatever their worry, whenever they need help. Children can contact Childline 365 days a year.
Our free NSPCC Helpline provides adults with a place they can get advice and support, share their concerns about a child or get general information about child protection. Adults can contact the Helpline 365 days a year.
